THoughts on the creative name for daughter: Arpa (or Arpista)?
Q. Basically meaning in Spanish "harp" and "harpist." My late mother (1953-2004) was a harpist.

A. Not knowing your surname it is difficult to know if the name sounds good. Standing by itself, it is not pleasing to my eyes or ears, though Arpista has a better ring than Arpa. Arpa just does not sound feminine. I'm sorry to read that your mother passed on to the next phase of her existence at such a young age. Perhaps she has met my own mother there by now.

A. No one organization or company operates the Internet. If you are referring to who sets standards for protocols, addressing assignment, manages the DNS root servers etc.. etc... Then that would be the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and Internet Software Consortium (ISC). And it was DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) that set the different DOD networks to use the Internet standard protocols for compatibility issues between the different branches of the US military.

Who is in-addr.arpa and why are they visiting my blog?
Q. I have a blogspot site and have sitemeter on it, and although my blog gets very, very few hits I have noticed on the sitemeter stats that the address in-addr.arpa comes up a lot as someone who looks on my blog (when the other addresses that visit my blog have more normal ISP names that I recognise like blueyonder or bbc (I'm in the UK)) I looked up in-addr.arpa and it is some kind of reverse look-up thing but I have absolutely no clue what that means. Can anyone tell me in real basic terms who is visiting my blog or if it's just a weird techie thing and in fact it's no-one?! Thanks!!
Asked by Justrestingmyeyes - Sat Dec 8 12:52:18 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The in-addr.arpa domain space is a holdover from ARPANET, the precursor of the Internet. DNS lookups are apparently being performed by your blog software to resolve your clients' TCP/IP hostname. Any address that does not appear in a DNS registration may appear as D.C.B.A.in-addr.arpa where A,B,C, and D represent the first through fourth numbers in their IP address.

Q. why did ARPA invent the internet?
Asked by tobabill - Wed Jan 2 19:08:45 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. To provide more durable communications in case of war. A widely connected network like the internet has more than one path between any two computers. If some part of one path is disabled, then communications can still flow on another path. For example, this answer of mine will undoubtedly go through Seattle before it moves on to Yahoo. But if Seattle were down, it could also go to SF first, or Denver, or many other places, before eventually getting to Yahoo. DARPA had no idea, or interest, in the commercial side of this when they invented it.

Q. Why do some IPs resolve to 'in-addr.arpa'?
Asked by MM - Thu Jun 10 07:14:14 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It means that there is no DNS entry for that address so the reverse look up process fails. The in-addr.arpa name is the mechanism by which reverse lookups are made - it looks up that name and should fidn the main DNS record for the IP address in queston. There are RFCs that state _every_ host on the internet must have a valid DNS name so if you end up with an in-addr.arpa name that technically isn't a valid configuration.

Q. a red-flowered sweet pea plant is crossed with a white-flowered sweet pea plant.arpa of the offsprings are pink.nato is the inheritance pattern being expressed?
Asked by t2cute1 - Mon Jan 14 20:14:04 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Your question is quite hard to understand, as I have no idea what "nato" or "arpa" mean. Hopefully, I am understanding you correctly. The inheritance pattern is being expressed, because the color of the sweet pea flowers is made up of hundreds of genes, not just a few. It is only logical that, with so many different genes determining the color, the offspring would receive some from one parent and some from the other, so the overall color of the offspring flower would be somewhere between red and white.

Here is the link to set up easily to find IP address on email. Here the link for IP Location locator.

The example that jumps most easily to mind is their Space program was ahead of ours for quite awhile. Now they had apalling numbers of accidents that they covered up and we have since found out about, but they were scoring first after first when our space program was struggling to get going.
