What to buy mil for a thank you for babyshower
Q. Today my mil threw me a great baby shower. She did everything, right down to cooking all the food. She even bought our crib and lots of baby stuff. I want to get her something nice to thank her but don't know what. Any ideas? I got the 3d ultrasound already and gave her the dvd of it. So that wouldn't work. Nice thought though.

A. I would just spend some extra time with her. Maybe if you haven't had your last ultrasound yet you could take her with when you do. Or you could just tell her you really appreciate everything that she's done and ask her if there is anything that you can do for her. Most likely she'll say no but she could also have something in mind. Only she can tell you what the perfect gift is. Maybe a picture of your baby from your ultra sound.

what mil rating is the best for a solar cover?
Q. We need to buy a solar cover for our pool and don't understand what the difference between the mil ratings are.
Asked by dan b - Thu May 21 01:04:41 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. In my opinion the 12 mil solar covers are the best for the money. They are heavy enough to stay on in high winds but light enough for the kids to get it off the pool. Almost all covers are going to get you 2 to 4 years of use before the sun and chemicals eat it up.

A. ohhh, a hard one! Nothing fun about dealing with family issues, especially when emotions and opinions are running high. I understand you completely, and yes, at 4 months a baby is more than capable of putting 2 and 2 together. Cry for nothing can = pick me up. That's not to say that babies are plotting for attention, but a 4 month old is much more capable of communication than they were at even 3 months of age. In all honesty I think that being firm would be the best thing, even if it does rock the boat. And should that boat turn into the Titanic, well, I would rather go down with the ship than give up the right to be the captain in my son's life. There is nothing wrong with letting your little one learn to deal with life on his own… [cont.]

How to nicely help your MIL stop delving into your business?
Q. My MIL means well, but she is constantly involving herself in our affairs, and sometimes without our knowledge or consent. For instance, when my DH lost his job, she went out, without my knowledge, and got me a job. I found out when the company called me up to start work... Maybe she does not understand , that your business , is not her business...so give her the benefit of the doubt...Your husband needs to explain to her...this is his family and he likes to keep his business between you and him, he appreciate her concerns and her helpfulness BUT he wants to do things his way...Of course all this should be done in a calm, pleasant , nonjudgmental way. Looking to buy MIL a gift of a candleabra for the fireplace?
Q. My MIL birthday is coming up. I am looking to buy my her a candle holder for her fireplace. I need one that will look good in a double sided fireplace. Does anyone have any ideas where to get one? I have one I got a target, but I am unsure if it would look good in her fireplace since it is double sided. Has anyone used 2 that are back to back? I am just brainstorming. She is just hard to buy for and said she wanted one for the new house. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

How much is un mil pesos in American money?
Q. I found a bill from when I went to Mexico when I was a kid, it has 1000 on it and says un mil pesos. I just wondered if anyone could tell me how much that is in American? Thank you!

A. I know you do not want to hear this but the bill was taken out of ciculation in the early 90s. Mexico overhauled and revalued it`s currency by striking 3 zeros from the Peso If it is in "Mint Condition" it may be worth a little to a collector. In todays Pesos $1000 mxn is worth $85.00 usd and that is today`s maximum paper bill. In the days when it was legal tender, as I recall, one needed 5 of them to buy a coveted Caguama of beer. A liter or so!! It is no joke and if you believe the other guy you will be laughed at , at the Bank I have researched the BILL and Now there is a 1000 Peso bill as of 2008 and if you look at the link you will see that it is nothing close to the one you have. Should I refinance and consolidate loan for rental property and MIL home?
Q. We have a small rental property (6% interest) and we signed for our MIL a home (8%, but she pays us for the monthly payment). We know that if anything happens to her, we would be responsible for the balance, or we could turn it into another rental. With the current rock bottom rates and the fact that we have 30% equity in our home, should we refinance to combine all these into one large payment?

How in the **** is Charlie Whitehurst worth $4 mil a year?

A. It involves knowing the actual size of the target and measuring its apparent size, using the mil-dots in the reticle, then doing a little math. This website will show you, and you can have a little fun with the game.

When a retirement account goes from $1 mil to 0 where does the money go?
Q. So many of us lost hundreds of thousands in the market, so for example if a retirement account was worth $1 mil and a few months later it is suddenly worth nothing, where did that $1 mil go?

A. I always find it interesting that I've probably heard this question at least a dozen times. The interesting thing is that when an account goes from 0 to 1MM, no one asks where that money "comes from"... The answer is that it didn't "go" anywhere, because in reality it never existed. Consider what the money in your retirement account really is. For simplification, I'll speak only about stocks, since that's what people are familiar with. The stock market value of a company is (or at least should be) the projected value of all money the company will make in the future, plus any cash payments to you, the stock holder (called dividends), discounted back for time and divided by the number of shares. In other words, the price of your… [cont.]

A. Don't do it. You two have a right to be on your own and your mother-in-law needs to get on with her life. She didn't live with her mother-in-law did she so she has no right to impose on you and your family.

How do I tell my future MIL no?
Q. I'm getting married in October, and my MIL keeps offering (almost insisting) that we hold the wedding in her backyard. Although it's very beautiful, its really too small. I've politely but firmly declined several times, explaining the space issue, but it doesn't matter. She keeps bringing it up, and now she's trying to convince my fiance behind my back. We have other acceptable venues available too, its not like we're desperately looking for a place. How do I settle this without damaging the relationship?

A. Your husband to be needs to tell her that you have found another location and will not be getting married at her home. To appease her in a small way how about this: Ask her to host the rehearsal dinner in her yard instead. That way she gets to entertain and decorate her place, the number of guests more manageable, but the wedding is back under your control and everyone is happy. :)

Can my MIL take legal action against me for refusing to birth in a hospital?
Q. She is a nurse and is adamant about me giving birth in a hospital. I have chosen a midwife and I am low risk. I am planning either a midwife-assisted childbirth at home or in a birth center; I haven't decided yet. What I have decided is no hospital unless complications arise. We live close to many hospitals and I am not afraid of transferring. Any thoughts? I have the ultimate decision, correct?

A. Your MIL cannot take legal action against you. It is YOUR body. It is YOUR choice. She may be against it, but you can ultimately do what you want. :) Do what YOU want! It's your baby! it's your birth! It's your life! It's your BODY, most importantly. Yes, you have the ultimate decisino and don't let her try to tell you that you do not! People do home-briths all the time! It's perfectly natural and normal. Good luck to you and your baby !!

How do you deal with your children's grandmother also known as your annoying MIL?
Q. I do everything I can to keep my 27 month old out of harms way. Yet, when the MIL finds out that he is taking chewable vitamins, she says to me. "Don't let him play with the bottle." I'm thinking, "Really?!?" Then she goes on to tell him that it's candy and asking him if he's had his candy yet. Is she backwards or what? Talk to me people! read the whole thing ELOQUENT. If she is so wise, why is she telling him that the vitamins are candy?

A. Maybe get your husband to talk to her because it may come out as being ungrateful if coming from you therefore causes mishap. Even the best of MIL can get on some people's nervous such as mine but I can't complain because I see her good intentions. As long as she loves my children and doesn't push the boundaries, I'm fine if she wants to put her two cents worth in.

What is the difference between a matte scope and a mil dot scope?
Q. I looked all over the place for this info with google. I couldn't find it anywhere. I think the difference is between the type of mark that the scope displays on the target, but that's only my educated guess. Do any of you know what the difference is?
