DomainKeys is an e-mail authentication system designed to verify the DNS domain of an e-mail sender and the message integrity. The DomainKeys specification has adopted aspects of Identified Internet Mail to create an enhanced protocol called DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM). This merged specification became the basis for an IETF Working Group which guided the specification toward becoming an IETF standard.

Both DomainKeys and DKIM were published in May 2007. DomainKeys was issued as a "historical" protocol and DKIM was issued as its standards-track replacement.

DomainKeys Verified? What difference does it make?
Q. I thought Domain Keys verified status appears in a email to help us trust the sender, yet I believe someone is trying to scam me sending mail with this status, How can I check them out?
Asked by Snowhite - Fri Apr 27 06:10:29 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It only means their email checks out as valid for their domain, they can still be trying to scam you. Security does not stop illegal actions on the part of an individual. It might help in tracing them if they get investigated, if they are still around.

A. Domainkeys is for legitimate domains that have been approved to send email to you. So I would not think you would want anything but that.

A. If you have had an e-mail asking for your details be careful. This is a known phishing scam attempting to get you to give them all your personal info. It's not from Yahoo, just delete it and ignore it. Good luck and be careful.
