A. url means..Unique address of any document on the Internet. If a URL is known, the user can go directly to that specific document without first selecting links from other documents. Typically the address is divided into parts that are separated by a period and the slash or the backslash symbol on the computer keyboard; the first part indicates the protocol that is, FTP, (file transfer protocol; HTTP, hypertext transfer protocol, indicating that the document is unique to the World Wide Web)- the second part specifies the computer where the document is stored-www.barrons.com/; if there is a third part, it indicates the exact location of the document on the computer where it is stored (if there are many directories and subdirectories, the URL… [cont.]

A. Gosh, i believe they are VERY important. There are SO many things one can access over the internet, not only static webpages, but people through email addresses, files through ftp, dynamic content through queries, actual servers on the network... If we didn't have URLs, it would be jolly fun to try and connect with each separate thing connected to the internet... URLs make connecting to people and pages and hardware very simple and intuitive. URLs can include a protocol, a login, a host, a port, a path, a query, and an anchor or fragment. The protocol can be one such as http, https, mailto, ftp, ssh. The login is the user before the @ part in an email, or which user to log into an ftp site as. (i.e. ftp://anonymous@somesite. com) the… [cont.]

Q. What do we call a network whose elements may be separated by some distance ? It usually involves two or more small networks and dedicated high-speed telephone lines. a) URL (Uniform Resource Locator) b) LAN (Local area network) c) WAN (wide area network) d) world wide web
Asked by Mad Scientist - Thu Sep 10 10:50:57 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Hmm, let's think about this. Is it A? Well, a URL is used to locate stuff, right? (it's a "uniform resource locator") So that's just doesn't make sense, does it? Is it B? Well, that's a "local" area network, and the question states the network isn't local at all, since the computers are "some distance" apart. Is it C? This one makes more sense because it's a "wide" area network, rather than the local one in B. Is it D? This might make sense, however, that term seems a bit to specific and widespread, doesn't it? I mean, we always refer to "THE" world wide web, not "A" world wide web. And since this question describes something you could probably make with some friends and a few computers, then this answer doesn't seem to make as much… [cont.]

A. The URL has been blocked by the administrator of the network that you are currently using. This is very common in schools, workplaces and universities. If you are the administrator you can remove the domain/URL from the proxy deny list using the ISA admin tool.

A. The problem is the site is being blocked. An error code 403 means you found the site but you did not have security access. I went to the site with no problem. You said you change security setting and many other things. You may have made the problem worse. Your original problem is most likely your new service is blocking you because it is an adware site. just go to your browser and type in adlandpro.com Do not put in HTTP or www then hit enter no luck? Try downloading Firefox Browser from Getfirefox.com

Asked by MissMolly - Sat Dec 8 16:40:08 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You should download CuteFTP or WS_FTP. Just Google them to find the free download. The FTP server should either be 1) Your dot-com full domain name (www.mysite.com) or possibly (ftp.mysite.com) 2) The IP address that your hosting company gave you for your site 3) The hosting company's domain name (ftp.myhost.com) Then you need your username and password, and you need to pretty much leave all of the default settings alone, unless otherwise specified by your host. For example, all FTP hosts use port 21, but some web hosts change this. Unless they've told you to change anything don't. The username you should have, and if it isn't the obvious one, try your primary e-mail address. The password you should have too. Its all pretty basic… [cont.]
