What authority does a commander have to give orders to military spouses?
Q. I know that there are instances where commanders have power over civilian spouses, such as while on an installation, or if they are causing trouble in some way that affects the army and what not, but how much authority do they have and where can that specific information be found? If a commander gives an order to a subordinate not to buy a Chrysler 300 for example, does that order apply also to their spouse even if they are not on post? And while we're on the subject, do commanders have the authority to say what subordinates can and cannot purchase with their own pay? (And I'm taliking about legal everyday items, like say a TV or a Microwave) I need referenes if you have them, thank you.

A. In 18 years, the only time I've known a Commander to step into situations like that occur when the soldier is in financial trouble. The Commander usually must step in, send the soldier to financial counseling and prevent them from getting any further in debt. If the soldier is in financial trouble and is wanting to buy a tv, I'm sure the Commander would definitely "suggest" that the soldier not buy it. That's understandable. Every financial mistake that soldier makes comes across the Commanders desk and he's responsible for that soldier and fixing the situation. I know of no time the Commander has ever told a spouse what to do or when to do it. I suppose, that would once again depend on the the financial situation of the soldier. … [cont.]

What directions do I take from port authority manhattan NY to Fairlawn NJ?
Q. How do I get to Port Authority in Manhattan? Im planning to take the bus 164 to Fairlawn NJ, but idk what to do, and what directions to take. I live in Queens so idk how to get to Manhattan, like what stop of a subway train do i get off to get to port authority? then how do i get to fair lawn?

A. penn station 34st and go upstairs and you are right in the port authority but it depends what train you taking from queens you might have ti transfer good luck

Where does the authority to levy property tax in the US come from?
Q. I'm 23, I don't own property, so this is not a personal grudge/matter. I obviously know that it is property tax is purported to be used for city/county services. What I do not understand is where that authority comes from, forcing a private individual to pay for services he or she may not want. Also where does the authority to seize land upon non-payment arise from? What rational is used to defend said practices?

A. you don't want police, fire, health, library, recreational etc. provided by your state or county with the property taxes? the taxes and services are for the benefit of the majority, they don't take a survey of every 23 yr old(or anyone else) to see if there are services they don't want to take advantage of and the next time you drive down the street of your city, you might want to see if you can fly over it instead of using it
