What web domains look most professional in e-mail addresses?
Q. From a professional perspective (such as the e-mail addresses put on resumes), what free (Yahoo, GMail, etc.) e-mail domains look most professional to prospective employers?
Asked by Anonymous - Mon Jan 14 01:19:55 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A professional domain would be one with a company suffix ... since you are looking for employment, it is not good to use your current work email. 1. You might get caught by your current employee 2. This sends out a poor message to perspective employees (ie, looks for new job on company time) To this end, private email address such as @yahoo @gmail are fine and should not have any negative affect. Only exception here is if you are a contractor looking for new clients ... then you should have a website of your own with a Name Server in the hosting package ... that way you can have the bob@bobsdomain.com

How come companies can afford to provide free web hosting but not free .com domains?
Q. Saying that web hosting usually costs 5 dollars a month, and domains usually cost 5-10 dollars A YEAR, how come people don't provide free domains? Hey David, thanks for the very long answer but I already use 1 and 1 host. This is just a question I was wondering.

A. Web hosting is easier to provide for free since the space that is provisioned on the web server may already be paid for. But for a domain name, they cost the host per domain just as they cost you and I, so they would lose a lot of profit trying to provide free .com names.
